    Question Opinions please.

Many of you have commented about my hats, in particular, if I could make a traditional blue bonnet. Well I did, but I don't know if it is the right shade of blue. It looks like it has kind of a weathered look to it, with white strands through indigo.

I was hoping I could get opinions on how this is compared to the old bonnets of yesteryear, and if this would be suitable for Jacobite wear. I don't want to say "costume" because it is not a costume, so I guess I will say "theme" and hope it is close enough. I am really very curious as to how this would look with traditional garb... A Jacobite shirt of some kind, along with the usual kilt and accessories. I am almost tempted to buy a Jacobite shirt just so I can see how it looks...

Opinions? Critisisms? Advice? Is the colour off?

I think you actually got it pretty spot on.

P.S. Love the face on your model.

Not sure if this helps, but here are some bluebonnets at last weekend's Hawick Reivers Festival. It would be difficult to say what exact shade would be the most historically accurate - even in a historic portrait the shade of blue could originally have been wrong or could have faded with aging.

FWIW, I like that shade of blue, I think it would go with a lot of blue kilts I've seen.

Hmm next attempt will involve a darker shade of indigo, and will not have the weathered look.

That'd go quite well with the X-Marks tartan.

It's beautiful work (as always), Dread! Love the shade of blue, but looking forward to seeing a darker indigo, too.
