    Welcome cousin,

I have both Keith and Gunn lineage.

Click on the USA Kilts ad above and you'll see Rocky has the Gunn tartan available. Guessing you'd want a semi-traditional model.

I'm working on the kilts and western boots combination myself...no joy yet...thought about trying to roll the tops of the kilt hose over the tops of the boots if it will stretch.

Still experimenting though...so far it all makes me look like Dale Evans.

And have thought about those shoes that are just shoes with a boot look but without the rise up the leg. But figure they'd make me look like the fop character in Rob Roy.

You'll find kilts are very versitile and you can be creative with them. It ain't all traditional.

    from North Texas!!!

Others have addressed the tartan question.

As far as kiltmakers, I echo what several others have said . . . you have a wide range of options. The poly-viscose (e.g., USAKilts) and acryllic (e.g., Stillwater Kilts) options are worth considering if you're interested in a lower initial price point, since you're also looking at acquiring the sporran, sporran strap, belt, etc. Take a look at our sponsors' sites, at least as a starting point.
