I'm not a "thrower" but a "lifter" One "Pint" after another! Does that count?

i just completed my first games. Took overall 4th with 26pts. 1st place was 21 pts, ties for second was 22pts. So over all I don't think I did too bad.
What do you all think of these scores? Are they good for a first timer?
Braemar Stone 22# 3rd @ 29'-6.5"
Open Stone 16# 2nd @ 35'-7"
LW for Distance 28# 3rd @ 43'-11"
HW for Distance 56# 4th @ 20'-0"
LW Hammer 16# 2nd @ 75'-6.5"
Weight over Bar 56# 4th @ 9'-0"
Caber (16' 70#) 8th 01:00

Not bad at all. You and I are pretty comparable, although I've done 3 games.
My best at the same events are close to yours. With some events, you will see huge improvement the second time you try an event. Others, you will see slow improvement. After the second games, you will officially be hooked.
22# Braemar 25' (1st time I did Braemar)
16# Open Stone 35'2" (1st time I did Open Stone)
28# LW for distance (49' 9" the second games, 40'6" the second time)
42# HW for distance (25'10" the first time I did it)
no hammer, YET
42# Weight over Bar 13' (same height, all first throw, all 3 games)
28# weight over bar 15' (first games, 2nd throw)
Caber, very bad at it. Best was an 18' heavy caber 75 degrees
Sheaf 16# 22' (second games, 14' the first, my release sucked)

I see you are in Fredonia. I'm a born and bred Central New Yorker. (Chittenango, NY). I'm already hooked but it may be a month or 3 before I can make it out to the next games.

Smart man, getting out of NYS is a great move. As for the wait until the next games, it gives you a chance to work on your form. Do you have anywhere to practice any of the events?

I miss NY all the time. I'll be there in June for a week.
We practice at the local high school. I have the practice "tools", the ones made of chain as mentioned in the make your own practice tools thread. Only thing I don't have is a caber.

I really wish we did sheaf, here in Nor Cal... I have to go to Portland or Enumclaw or So Cal to grab a hayfork.
