I have a flatcap also... I love flatcaps, ever since I started wearing my grandfather's black reyon cap he got from a Seagram's giveaway. Wish I never lost that one....
I'm also a big wearer of baseball caps, but I agree they just don't go well with kilts (tartan anyway). Unless I was playing baseball in my kilt.... hmmmmm.

Get a feather bonnet and wear it all the time! That would make you particularly unique.

Actually Todd has previously posted a picture of a gentleman who incorporated a feather bonnet into a kilted outfit to celebrate both sides of his heritage.
He made it work too!

I'm not much for hats in general, but will jump on the flat cap bandwagon -- it just seems like a good fit for me personally, and I'd definitely prefer it to wearing a baseball cap while kilted.

I've worn baseball caps, flat caps, boonie hats. The activity I'm doing plays more of a factor in my decision. Normally I hate wearing a hat whether kilted or not but the lack of hair is becoming more an issue in direct sun and cold weather so I need the head protection and insulation.
Recently I've been eyeing a Tan Glen or a Fergusson Britt wool bonnet

I wear berets, a tweed flatcap, a couple of tartan driving caps, a aussie slouch hat, a tweed deer stalker, balmorals, a glengarry, and the aforementioned pith helmet with my kilts.
I do show restraint and forgo wearing my cowboy hats, greek fisherman's cap, spanish bolero, hard hat, top hat, tricorner hat, boater, assorted fedoras, panama hats, and other misc headwear.
(By the by, yes I am aware I have a hat problem*... )
Cheers
Jamie

This has been my usual hat:
But it's pretty much lost its shape after years of daily wear. This is my day-to-day hat now:
It's a very old Lee. I've toyed with getting an 8-panel newsboy's cap (I like the shape better than a flatcap), but years of wearing fedoras makes it feel weird to have a hat without a brim all the way around my head.
And I never go outside without a lid on my head. I wear these hats both kilted and trousered.

While not quite the "mad hatter" I have a black balmoral, with black torrie, no dicing, clan livery cockade & badge. Dorfman Pacific off white straw "planter's" hat w/tartan band, black crushable fedora w/tartan band, "tin cloth" trilby for wet weather, and a lovat blue trilby for general wear, plus a "safari" hat with mesh sides for when I have to be out in the sun. (I really burn. I'm toying with the idea of making a coloured tam to go with a new kilt when I get it. . . . that's in the queue ahead of the hose toppers.
