That's one very pretty bird, I think. And great photo - how often does that sort of thing happen to a person? (I saw it once, way off on the far side of the tarmac at an airport I came into, another life ago.) It prompted me to look up again the story of its design.
Regards,
Rex.

The wing tip vortices from a 747 descend at approximately 500 feet per minute. As a private pilot, I had to be especially watchful when mixing with the heavy iron at the larger airports. Those vortices can flip a small plane. Get hit with one close to the ground and you have no room to recover.

Air Force One is only Air Force One when the president is on it. There are two plans that might carry that designation. I've seen both of those plans, one at a time, parked at Travis AFB in the 1990s.

This - and 11 other pictures of the Air Force One - was taken with a Nikon D300 with the 70-300 mm lens set at 300 mm, vibration reduction on and set to active, camera set on 3200 ASA. At 0744 it was only 25 minutes after sun rise.

Any USAF aircraft the president is aboard is Air Force One. The Boeing 707s (AF designation: VC137) were tail numbers 26000 and 27000. To the best of my knowledge, they remain in use to this day. The Boeing 747s (AF designation not known to me) bear tail numbers 28000 and 29000.

It was a grand picture of the aircraft against the beautiful clear sky.
But a TREMENDOUS waste of U.S. Tax Payers MONEY! It was a waist of a trip!

The plane itself is known as SAM (Special Air Mission) -- it has always been my understanding that any USAF that POTUS is aboard is known as "Air Force One".

I saw a program on one of the cable channels on the president's transportation, and I think they called the limo "Cadillac One."
Might have been a little tongue-in-cheek, though.
