    That makes sense; I'll have to ask "my" monk/teacher when I next see him. (American-born of Scottish descent, so I'm sure he'd get a kick out of this thread!)

    Incidentally, using STA's "Tartan Ferret" it looks like there are indeed 2 tartans associated with the Samye Buddhist monastery:

    Cool! As a practicing Buddhist (Tibetan tradition) I'm sure the monks loved meeting you guys. Btw it's interesting the strong similarities between some Celtic beliefs and Buddhist beliefs - the interconnectedness of all things being one of them.
