When you have a chance, check out the charity shops, I have been able to get a couple of great sporran straps. They started life as very long narrow belts. Two of mine were for twice around wraps for a dress design long out of fashion, and two for when men were wearing very thin belts with trousers. The whole lot of five belts for under a fiver.

    Success

One great weekend and fun had by all.

I believe this might be the disturbingly entitled 'pleat shot', inadvertent in this case.

Had a great time on the range, where the instructer's pointers really sharpened up my aim.

The following day I did field archery, which was even more fun.

Thanks for the advice, all. I'm very pleased to report that in two days of walking, shopping, shooting and eating out I drew no comment whatsoever and only a couple of young blokes looked a bit surprised - which I put down to the cold, because it was brass. I coped fine, but I am going to get some nice chunky long socks, which will be better for smart occasions: I'm thinking a pale blue.

My mates were all into it and I'm looking forward to my next outing

    Ya done good.

I had to laugh at your sig quote. As a former dance instructor and as a competitive fencer, I agree wholeheartedly!

My first training was in Aikido, with a great emphasis on relaxed movement, correct distance and timing, and I found dance very helpful. Dancing on stage has been particularly useful, as you learn to match motion to very variable performances and avoid obstacles, all without actually looking

I should say, I'm not the best swordsman, but I cut a mean rug
