    First kilt wearing advice request

Could I ask for any advice folk would like to give? Wouldn't want to let the side down.

I'm off for a weekend away in Sherwood Forest: walks, pub, archery, planning to wear something casual like this, plus a jacket outside:

Sporran's a hands-breadth below the belt, but looks a bit low?

    many thanks

    Welcome to XMTS!

It is a fine casual outfit. The only thing I would change would be to replace the formal sporran chain with a simple leather sporran strap.

    Cheers

Well done. Personally I like the socks up under the knee the traditional way, but that's just me.

Well done for a first time.

My only observation would be about the socks, but that has been covered already. Other than that it looks like you are prepared for a fine outing in the woods. Enjoy your day, and remember to take some kilted photos for us.

This time of year in Sherwood Forest, I would echo Snowbear and Jock. As for the sporran, you might have to adjust, up or down as the day progresses and the amount of activity you are doing.

    Enjoy yourself.

    Regards

    Chas

enjoy yourself, and you look fine... I prefer the leather sporran belt myself.. and I have always felt more comfortable with my sporran low enough for modesty.. it seems yours is where mine would be..

Chiming in to pretty much the same tune. Looks good... I do think the sporran looks a bit low and agree that a leather sporran belt would be a step up. I'm a "socks up" person, too, but to each his own on that one.
    Have a great time!

Hooray for your maiden voyage - er - first venture out. Seeing as how you've probably already left for the trip, what with your provisions piled up by the door, I do hope you'll report on how it went.

You are dressed as I often find myself on weekends. And you'll raise or lower the hose depending on the weather, I'm sure. I notice a tiny bit of bunching under your sporran chain, so raising it up a smidge would solve that.

    Regards,
    Rex.
