Double-edged sword, but both in your favour. If you reveal your resolution, you can blame the bad juju when it doesn't work out... it's not your fault if you failed. If you don't reveal it, no one knows what it was in the first place, so no one knows that you didn't succeed 
(not intended as a personal slight against you, good sir... just an observation of certain other people I know with the same belief)

Lose weight - even though doing so will result in a couple of my kilts no longer fitting me...
Obtain my honors degree with much hard work and intellectual pain along the way...
and make some new friends!
