It's not a water gun.
It's a clear version of the Nerf N-Strike Recon CS-6 with the stock attached and the barrel extension not. The barrel doesn't really help with accuracy and it reduces the distance of the shot.
For this game I would suggest a modded Longshot CS-6 using the Big Bad Bow piston spring with the original spring, or the really modded option of taking an AR-16 recoil spring and trimming it and replacing the cocking spring with a heavier spring. Makes the darts shoot up to 100 yards if done right...... attach the Raider CS-35's drum clip and your set.
Yes, modification of Nerf guns is a hobby of mine.... we shoot at each other at work. Nerf modding can get serious (like the custom cut brass breeches for the Longshot I considered buying for $50 a pop.)
Just by cutting to allow a full drop on the revolving cylinder and removing the air-restriction in a Maverick 6 you could get a very nice (and REALLY portable) zombie blaster.
Shorter = better when you may have to leg-it or squeeze through a closing door/narrow gap.
I wouldn't give the battery powered ones a second look. Their range (from what I've seen) is terrible, and who wants to risk running out of batteries when you're surrounded by braying hordes of zombies. It's TWO commodities you now need to manage vs just ammo.

Gotta be careful with the loading when you remove the air restrictors though. Too far down on the dart and you jam.

Argueable, With the blaster held upright, it's no wider than your body.... and if "zombies" are coming at you, you don't wait to squeeze through anything.

The range is dependent on the individual blaster (the Vulcan and the Stampede have decent range...), and the battery life with decent batteries are actually quite good (I've had the same set of batteries in my Vulcan for a year or so), but I do agree these are NOT the blasters to go with, just for a different reason. The batteries make the blasters overly heavy and bulky. Why add 5 pounds of batteries when you can add 5 pounds of clips and darts?

We have Survive Norfolk which is like Meghans Humans vs Zombies but lasts only a night, involves a race to a finish line after hitting specific markers and no Abe statues.
I'm a zombie this year

There should be a zombie paintball course where you have to hit them in the head (helmet/mask) to kill them before they get your life flags.

Anybody been watching The Walking Dead? Where the heck did that little girl run off to!?!? I would be so ticked off with her when I found her again. How hard is it to sit under that little stick shelter thing and wait for the sheriff to come back!!
If I were her mom, after this little running away episode, I would be scavenging cars for one of these:
