    Back home and new kilt

I've been away from the board since 9 Dec when my internet was cancelled prior to our move. We are now back in the states and will spend Christmas with family for the first time in 4 years.

I wore my olive UK for the flight from Nurnberg to Frankfurt to Chicago to San Antonio. That is the 4th time I've made that flight and the most comfortable I've been. Shortly after lift off from Frankfurt, two of the flight attendents asked what the Brotherhood of the Kilt was about. Yes, I was wearing the shirt from kiltsrock.com. They told me the male attendent was reluctant to ask.

Thursday was spent showing my wife around the post, getting a cell phone, and visiting the Commissary prior to going to the Riverwalk for the evening. I was wearing the SWK saffron and xmarks T-shirt. 0As I was walking across the parking lot at the PX a soldier drove by taking a pic with his cell phone camera. Got a few looks but that was about it. At the Commissary, a retired Marine asked what clan and we had a nice 5 min chat. Another couple gave me the web address to The Blood is Strong and asked about clan affiliation due to the T-shirt. Another retiree asked if I got cold wearing that. He seemed surprised when I said no and said it must just be what you are used to. As we were checking out, an older lady came out of the breakroom wanting to shake my hand saying "it takes a real man to wear a kilt". She then told me how Roddy Piper made kilts famous. Along the riverwalk there were many looks but no comments. It looked like a few folks from the tour boats took my pic as they cruised past.

We got to my parents house in TN and my new SWK Weathered Lamont was waiting. The colors look even better in person than the pics I have seen. I'll steam out any remaining wrinkles in the morning and wear it when my wife and I go car shopping. Middle TN may not recover. This evening was the first time my parents have seen me in a kilt in person. They did like the SWK better than the UK. I'll try to get some pics tomorrow also.

It's good to be back home and now to catch up on 2000+ posts.

    YMOS,
    Tony

Ah, San Antonio. I have not been back there since boot camp. Sounds like it'll be good to be back in the states. As much as I enjoyed Germany, it was great to be home.
