Scottish Census data

My mother-in-law who is seriously into geneology tells me that the data from tthe Scottish Census of 1841 and 1851 have been added to Ancestry.com

BEWARE THEIR SPAM

....but this could be a gold mine for some of us,here.

Good news indeed!
Unfortunately my Scottish ancestor was transported to the colonies well before this census.
Hmmmm.....maybe I will take a White Rose as my Avatar!

Could be useful. My mother's side has been traced back three hundred years by a relation on her side but my family tree on my father's side only goes back about one hundred years. There is a surviving cousin of my late father's whom I hope to get together with in the summer to do some research once the new genealogy centre opens here in Hawick.
BTW I participated in the preparation of the 1981 census.
