Bagpipes meet Rock & Pop

A new boy band have arrived in Bonnie Scotland. There is 3 members of this band and they all play the bagpipes, their ages range between 17-18. As well as mixing bagpipe music with modern pop and rock, like any boy band they have dance routines. Kilts are not worn during their performance but as these lads are all students of music at the Royal Academy of Art, Drama and Music in Glasgow, Scotland, they also play in their local pipe bands where they are fully kilted.
They are called TNT (The New Tradition) and have signed up with a record company and will be releasing a single and album soon.

Could be worth looking out for!

That is correct. The heavy rock band was formed in 1982, and are still playing and reecording. They have just hired Tony Mills as their new lead vocalist (worked with Sweet, Meatloaf, Dokken and more). Guitarist Ronni Le Tekrö is by many considered the top rock guitarist in the world today.

The concept of three guys and their bagpipes may be noble - but they should be considerate enough not to meddle with a name of a band whose shoes they can not fill...

The three guys with the bagpipes were featured on BBC1 Scottish News last night. I have to say I wasn't particularly impressed with their performance, and the unisex black trousers and black shirts somehow didn't look right with the bagpipes. While it would be nice for the pipes to be heard more widely, I can't see this group making much of an impact somehow.

I have encountered a few "Scots-rock" bands in my travels. One that comes to mind is The Rock Ness Monsters they play traditional Celtic bagpipe tunes interwoven with rock, blues and jazz. I believe they are from Denver Colorado. Personally I think they are better than "Seven Nations"

My wife and I saw the group 'Off Kilter' playing in "Canada" at Epcot in Disney World. Liked them so much I bought one of their albums. Nice mix of electric pipes and guitar.

Another heavy pipe rock groups is 'The Real McKenzies' from Ontario Canada. Having a shared last name has me biased, but quite good if you like the heavier stuff.
