Kilt of a Different Material?
The section says:
"A place to discuss old kilts, new kilts, red kilts, blue kilts..."
I HAVE to ask:
Has ANYONE ACTUALLY MADE a DUCK/DUCT TAPE kilt?
OR
What other VERY "non-traditional" materials have you used?

I thought about doing that, but then I realized I would need so much that my tail lights would fall off.

A duct tape kilt??? Hmmmmm, Squirrels are turning
"A veteran, whether active duty, retired, national guard or reserve, is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to "The United States of America", for an amount of "up to and including my life." That is honor, and there are way too many people in this country who no longer understand it." anon

Can't get my hands on it but the secretary at my daughter's school showed me a photo of her son in his duct tape kilt that he made for some school function...it was very impressive and he did a sporran, too. Obviously, duct tape trousers were too much of a challenge...

I haven't made a kilt in too non-traditional of a material. Yet. I've done PV, canvas, and denim so far. I am thinking of silk though. Denver fabrics has a very hefty silk (about 7 oz. per square yard) that I think might be nice, but I haven't checked out a swatch of it yet. I've also been thinking of a moleskin or ultrasuede with silk or satin contrasting inner pleats. (Somewhat like PK used to do.) My kiltmaking activities are on hold however, until I can get a little ways out of the hole I'm in right now though. Great thread, I hope to see some interesting stuff in this one.

I once promised Hamish a Saran Wrap (Cling Film) kilt but half way into the project I realized that the buckles would clash.
