North Carolina Newbie
Hey Y'all,
I have been following this board for about three weeks now while researching how to make my own kilt.
I am a Boy Scout leader in the Piedmont Triad area of No. Carolina and am interested in eventually making a kilt in the MacLauren tartan. (The Boy Scouts have a strong connection to MacLauren and the Advanced Adult leader training neckerchief - Wood Badge - is the Maclauren tartan.)
I have bought some inexpensive, "almost" sold color fabric and just received my copy of "The Art of Kiltmaking" (Thanks to Matt Newsome for getting it to me so quick. ONE DAY SERVICE!!)
I am taking pics and will post my progress soon.
By the way, I don't usually join boards. I just glean the info from them. But after following you all for the past three weeks feel like this is genuinely a positive and encouraging "family". I look forward to making new friends with all of you.
If there is anyone in my area, I would enjoy meeting with you, getting advice on making and wearing a kilt, etc.

A hearty welcome from the Western foothills of our great state.
Good luck on making your kilt.
I think you are in the same heat wave we are in where it
hotter that the hinges on the gates of Hade.

A hearty welcome from the Knoxville, TN area! There's plenty of great advice to be had here, and Barb T., who wrote the book is also a member! If you're looking for a bit more casual, do a search in the forums for the X-Kilt, written by Alan H. Again, welcome to the forum and the addiction of the kilt!!!

Welcome to the neighborhood
I think you'll find a handful in your area and quite a few in the Western Carolinas. As well as if you do a search for Eagle Scouts on the forum, there's quite a few of us as well.
Glad your here!

A big welcome from Western Scotland.
This really is a big family and everyone here is very friendly and fun.
I think you'll fit right in. We have more than a few Scouts on this board.
