Goin' to a Wedding, Formal in an X Marks
Last Saturday, my wife and I attended a black-tie wedding at the InterContinental Hotel in Buckhead (Atlanta), Georgia.
Here we are:
With Bonnet (left in car, was OVER 100 F):
Coverless:
Rear view of jacket and my X Marks (13 oz) kilt, repressed:
I made my bonnet, sporran, and flashes (out of worsted wool ribbon) and modded the jacket from a "thrift store special" double breasted.
The kilt is X Marks tartan (the other half of A Hay's) and box pleated for double sett and centered on the WIDE white on blue (using the WHOLE blue box). It is on the wide side, but great for those with rump measurements of 44/46 and over. Mine is 6 LARGE box pleats (to the yellow would have either been 12 w/ same apron width or 11 with a slightly wider apron).
Using the new material, I would HIGHLY recommend this pleat, as it hold the pleat a bit better than narrow boxes-> OR box pleat to sett with 1/2 sett facings (1.5 setts per pleat).

You and your wife are both looking very smart.
One thing though, Is it just me or is there something in your face that makes you look about 12 in these pictures. Believe me that isn't a bad thing!
Cheers

Very smart pictures MacWage!
Can't blame you for leaving the bonnet in the car if it was that hot!

Great look. I need to start looking through the local thrift stores for a jacket that I can refurbish to wear with my kilts.

What Jamie said.
With respect to looking 12, it's probably due to the missing facial hair. If I shave my face, I look like I'm 14... If I went back to a short hairstyle and shaved my face, I would look exactly like I did in my freshman class pictures, except with a kilt, instead of a pair of jeans. Methinks I'll stick with the mid-back length hair and the beard...

Looks great. I like the pleats too. Different look to the usual box pleat of the XMarks tartan.
