Is there a suit forum where...?
OK, I will start with an apology to anyone who might be offended by the following question. I mean no disrespect I just don't understand the phenomena.
So the completed title should read: Is there a suit forum where people post every time someone says they like or dislike the suit they are wearing?
What I'm alluding too is why there are so many posts about benign comments when someone is wearing a kilt. they tend to read along the lines of:
"We stopped at the waffle house and a young guy in a leather jacket said cool kilt "
"I went to pick up my car at the shop and the mechanic wanted to know what tartan"
"I went to MacDonald's and the girl behind the counter asked me 'the question' "
Obviously these are fictitious examples but I think rather true to form. Again I am not picking anyone out, but I don't understand why there are so many of these treads and the discussion that goes with them.
I certainly understand a truly out of the ordinary experience, but the day to day ones baffle me. Is it something, someone can explain? Maybe I have just worn a kilt to long to get it? I don't know.
Again no offence is meant, I'm just trying to understand my fellow rabble.

Because here at XMarks we are amongst friends. We may not be able to meet them at the local coffee shop because they live a hundred miles away, a thousand mile away or an ocean away. We all have a common topic of discussion - kilts. It is how we met, it is what we (mostly) wish to discuss. Sure we talk about frivolous things, as you've suggested, along with current events, suggestions, ideas or a Victorian tale of high adventure. There are post that we are not interested in reading but we're free to skip over them if we choose. Hey sometimes we argue (let's call it debate) about the same old thing, just with new voices with new views. We different because we choose to wear kilts, we come to learn whether this goes with that, occasionally we learn, mostly we laugh. We post to socialize, because we are amongst friends.

OK, that's great definition of what a forum, and particularly x-marks, is. I get that part but it doesn't answer my question. I certainly realise I have the right not to read them. I'm not saying there is anything wrong with those posts and I am not sure they are frivolous, I just don't get it. Again, maybe I have been wearing a kilt too long for me to understand the interest.

You raise an interesting question in "is there a suit forum...". Honsetly I don't know. If there were I could see someone saying "Last night, I walked into 7-11 in my black Amani and the girl behind the counter smiled at me and said 'Nice suit, did you just come from a wedding?'"
To me a kilt is freedom so I could more easily equate it to a Nudist forum rather than a suit forum. I could see it now...
"Last night, I walked into 7-11 with my ornate beach towel and the girl behind the counter smiled at me and said 'Sorry sir, no shoes, no shirt, no service, nice towel though.'"

I always wonder if there's a forum for the guys who are still wearing those Zoobaz pants. We still see them around here now and again...you know, those loose, light fabric pants that had stuff like zebra prints. There are still a lot of Chicago Bears zoobaz around...just hang around the liquor store or supermarket before game time on a Sunday and I guarantee several sightings.
...and as to the question being asked of a zoobaz wearing guy...I'd bet that no one wants to know bad enough to bother to ask.
Best

Being new and still waiting for my first kilt, I don't carry much weight.
1. I see where members of the forum feel a bond and just want to share their experiences. I'd relate it to telling your significant other about how your day went.
2. (This could just be because I'm still a newb and not even wet behind the ears yet.) Being a site to try to promote the wearing of the kilt, people want to share their general day-to-day experiences to encourage others to be comfortable wearing the kilt.
These positive day-to-day posts are great for those like me crawling into wearing a kilt.
I'd personally like to see the negatives with reactions/come backs to be better prepared to handle the situation. I won't lie; I naturally suck at comebacks. There may be several of these posts here and I've just not found them yet as I'm still reading backdated posts. Of course this could be for the fact people are getting more compliments than negative remarks.

I think the answer is simple. The reason you don't see gents wearing suits posting about comments on the suit is due to a couple of things:
1. The "suit" is a common male garment. A man in a suit is quite ordinary and no one thinks a second thought of it. Put a man in a kilt and it's a different story. The tartan cloth alone is enough to spark interest. Caledonia tartan is far different than grey herringbone. Catch my drift?
2. Because, due to no. 1, a lot of new kilt wearers feel downright insecure about it until they're comfortable.
3. Many (myself included) wish to see the kilt accepted as a man's garment in the modern world and NOT a costume. So, you undoubtedly see many of the "The girl in Wendy's said..." comments due to this line of thought...
There are surely more reasons, but these jump right out at me.
