DIY Kilt Hose
Hey, all.
I did a search and learned that several of you knit your own kilt hose. Let's see 'em!! Put up some pictures, please!
I'm learning to knit - 2-1/2 weeks into it - with the intention of making my own hose. So far I've done three scarves and a hat with cables. I think I'll be ready for hose soon, and the search is on for a pattern. We have two yard shops locally, one with a fantastic selection of sock-weight yarns.
I also discovered we have a local weaver who specializes in tartans. FORTUNATELY, she is in Florida for the winter so I won't meet her until late spring. WHEW! I already know what's going to happen when I finally meet her, and right now I can't afford her acquaintance!
Enough for now. See you later!

I'm still learning to knit. As Glen has pointed out, my fiance is the fancy knitter in our relationship and she makes me nice hose.
That said, I am assured that any true Scotsman can 'Click it' and make his own hose.
So I am working on it very hard.

Hi Bob,
My Mum has knitted me a few pairs. When I get home (I am at work late hence all the posting) I'll look for a few pictures for you. Good on you for taking up knitting, I have tried but I am all thumbs when it comes to it.
Good luck,
Sara

For a man to proudly state that he's knitting his own hose! He's must be a kiltie. Gotta love it.

Oh, you have no idea the stir when I walked into the yarn shop and told the gal I wanted to learn to knit so I could make hose to complement the kilts I make! She and the other women were practically falling over each other to show me around the place. When I signed up for the free Learn To Knit class on Saturday morning they started arguing over who was going to teach it!!
It's fun to stir the pot, and I'll admit I like the attention. Really, who wouldn't?
Hey, Timber, is that the John Anderson toe-up pattern? Looks VERY nice!
