    Must travel with kilts

When last I traveled with my kilts, they arrived wrinkled and with rolled pleats. This is, of course, unacceptable. I do not choose to spend an entire day of my trip doing little more than ironing! I'll need to travel with seven or eight days' worth of clothing and I'll be dog-gonned if I'm going to wear the same kilt every day for a week!

I've seen this wonderful idea, called a kilt-roll, at various online stores around the web, but they all look designed to carry a single kilt. Since air travel is inevitable and they limit my baggage, this simply will not do. What are others' experiences of travel with multiple kilts in baggage, and how to preserve crisp lines and pleats?

I've flown internationally multiple times with kilts rolled and shoved into a leg of pantyhose.

Never had a single wrinkle. And the kilt roll was tucked in with my pipes.

Ditto with the panty hose. Secondly, I found that my 16oz. kilt travels much better than my 11 oz. (haven't traveled with my 13oz. yet). If you've got heavier weight kilts, take those as they don't wrinkle nearly as easily.

Indeed, roll it around a bit of dowel first, then into the panty hose. I did this last weekend with 2 kilts, worked great!

Here's a link to our article section, specifically about rolling a kilt for travel.

    Hope that helps!

Yup, rolling the kilt up works just fine. I suppose you could just wear it, too, but then you might wrinkle it on the flight!

The heavier the kilt, the less prone to wrinkles, and the more quickly wrinkles fall out.

I use the method we have a tutorial and have never had to iron a kilt on the road due to the packing. In my mind traveling kilted is way easier than when I traveled with pants!

Thanks, all, for the replies. I had considered purchasing kilt carriers/rolls, but it looks like the pantyhose trick is [almost?] as good and will fit into my budget.

I just use a garment bag when I travel. The kilts are hung up and always wrinkle free

I bought a kilter and am not that impressed with it. As I was told when I was looking at it, a garment bag will do the trick. There is a kilt roll from the same people who make the kilter.

Normally, I put it on a hanger and hang it (never flown with a kilt).

I would hang the kilt in a steamy bathroom if if were wrinkled, which is what I do with most of my dress clothes which are wrinkled.
