tartanweb jacket
What do you guys (male or female) think about this jacket?
http://www.tartanweb.com/shop/highla...waistcoat.html
I'm interested in the charcoal. Anyone know if it's a light or dark charcoal?
I'm also interested in this one from the Scottish Tartan Muesum, the craill jacket with waistcoat, charcoal grey. Light or dark?
Any thought?

Although not specifically from this vendor, I have a charcoal tweed set like this and the color is very dark grey, nigh on black. So I would assume that the charcoal they are offering would be more on the dark side than the light.

I would think their Charcoal is the same as many others I have a Charcoal Grey Braemer Jacket and Waistcoat from Hector Russell here is a photo that might help

I have the one from STM, I'd recommend it. I believe it may have come from House of Edgar, but at any rate from a supplier you'd recognize. It is a rather dark charcoal, but not the darkest I've seen. The color is very versatile!
Click the thumbnail to view: It looks very much like McMurdo's, does it not? The cuffs are actually the PC style, which in some taxonomies would make this a "Braemar" jacket. It has epaulets, and buttons on the pocket flaps.
Take note: this fabric is not wimpy! It's not a tweed weave, but a heavy wool twill. You'd think that it was made in Scotland. The waistcoat will not be seeing much action from now until October, but it surely felt good in the dead of winter.

Here are a couple pic of my Higgins charcoal tweed Argyll (technically I guess a braemar since it has faux staghorn buttons instead of silver).

Sorry, they are a little bit dark and fuzzy (wife is not much of a photographer).

With the greatest respect, what you have is indeed a`tweed Argyll. They do not necessarily have to be black with "silver" buttons.

If I understand correctly, Argyll vs. Braemar (sp?) is indicated by whether it has gauntlet style cuffs (Argyll) or the buttons running up the cuff vertically.

That's about it the Argyll has the Gauntlet cuff and the Braemar is the style that I am wearing above.

I can't help you on the charcoal question, but I recently received my green Braemar from TartanWeb, and am quite satisfied with both the service and the quality of the jacket. Be sure to use their measurement guidlines.
