An invitation to all Scots! ! !

On behalf of Jack MacMillan and myself, we cordially invite Minnesotans who cherish their Scottish heritage (or who "wannabee" Scots) to participate in the 100th Anniversary Richfield Minnesota 4th of July Parade. Participants are being asked to gather at the Richfield Community Center – NOTE: You may be directed to the Hennepin County Library at 71st and Nicollet, west side - starting at 11:00 a.m. on July 4th, no later than noon. The parade will begin at 1:00 p.m. The new route is being devised due to construction at 66th Street and Portland Avenue. The parade will proceed north on Nicollet to 70th Street, turn east and continue to 12th Avenue – Richfield Intermediate School. The route is on the web site http://www.richfield4thofjuly.com/ce...ts/parade.html

This is a Scottish Community wide event, not the purvey of just one organization. It is a chance to remind everyone in Minnesota that in addition to proud Swedes, Norwegians, Germans, Finns, Scots played a vital role in the development of our state and this community.

Scott McKechnie, Executive Director of the Scottish American Center has generously offered the use of the SAC van for those folks who don’t feel they can walk the entire parade. We could certainly use another van or pick up truck. If you can help in this way, please email Jack at jacmacm@aol.com We hope to see lots of Kilts, Kilt skirts, tartan banners, and organizational banners. We have been told we will be marching right behind the Minnesota Police Pipe Band. We are unit 7 and registered as Minnesota Coalition of Scottish Clans. We will have water on the van, walk a little ride a little, bring your banners, organizations, clans, Saltires. Be proud.

Following the parade, everyone is invited to an old fashioned July 4th backyard Barbeque at the Richfield home of Babs Humphrey. Pot Luck, bring your favorite 4th of July picnic dish, Babs will provide hamburgers and hot dogs.

To help with planning, please email Jack MacMillan at jacmacm@aol.com and let him know that you will be there. We will send Babs' address by return email. HAPPY FOURTH OF JULY! ! !

SEE YOU ALL THERE! ! !
