The Amazing Power of the Tank II

Well, it is very late and I am very tired, but I thought that I would mention that I went back to Cold Springs, again, for the dance. I will take me a long time to write about all of the kilt responses that took place tonight. At best it made last week look like nothing happened. Later,
    Nate

Wow, what an eventful night for me at the dance at Cold Springs Resort. My very first surprise was the woman at the ticket booth. She remembered my name and addressed me by name right away. I am horrible at remembering names of when I first meet people. I don’t think she remembered me from the kilt. After all last week I wore my Black Watch kilt and a tan shirt and last night I wore my Black Shadow tartan kilt with a white shirt. (slight tongue in cheek)

Here is just a small list of what took place.

During a dance a man came up to me and shook my hand. He had the same bald ‘hair cut’ as me. He told me, “Bald and in a kilt, it looks great!” After the entire evening was over he and his wife met up with me. He told me, “You have inspired me.” I did not expect that. We talked about wearing a kilt for a while and about this forum site. We may have a convert. Hopefully he will be at the next dance on August 2 nd. What might he wear? You can have a lot of SWK’s delivered in that amount of time.

The most unexpected thing happened during one of the band’s breaks. I stepped out side to cool off when two very nice looking women came up to me and asked me if it was ‘dress up’ day. (Unfortunately, I am too naive for my own good.) I simply replied that I just prefer to wear a kilt. Very quickly both women grabbed the bottom of my apron……well let me leave it as I learned what ‘dress up’ day means, the women discovered what they wanted to discover, and I will not go into what they proceed to do after that (which fortunately did not involve me….uhm….directly) and how they danced around me later.

A party at one table had a lot of questions for me. One woman told me to turn around and flip up my kilt so that she could see what I was wearing underneath. I told her that I would not do that. She then told me that she and her friends would lift it to find out themselves during the dance. I directed her to ask the women that I met outside for the answer to their question. Fortunately, neither I nor the kilt was disrupted during the dance by any folly.

Towards the end of the dance I left the floor to get some water. I was dancing and drench from perspiration. As I was walking down an isle a man seated with his wife at a table just raised his hand and gave me a high-five. The look on his face seemed to say ‘I wish I had your courage’.

At the end of the dance a group of women came up to me and said that they wanted to have their picture taken with me. I replied with a little discouragement as I was hot and sweaty. The response from one woman was, “we don’t care kiltboy.” Well, at that moment those women started to call me kiltboy. I told the woman with the camera that she could take my picture under the condition that she emails me the picture. She agreed and now I am waiting for the picture.

Well, this was just a portion of the evening; too many stories to tell. This place attracts a lot of pretty well to do baby boomers that live on the area lakes. I get volumes of positive comments from this group. The ones that seem to be negative are mostly men younger than me.

Well, I finally received an email today with the picture that was taken of me at the dance. I am bummed that the shot does not include the kilt. I crop a lot of ceiling from the top of the picture. I just can not prove that I was wearing my wool Black Shadow tartan. Notice I am red faced a very, very sweaty. I dance so hard my legs still feel it tonight. The woman in the yellow top wanted the picture and her friends joined in. Oh, well, here is the picture.

Sounds like wearing the kilt brings WAY too much excitement to your life. If you show up without it now they will be SOOO disappointed.

Well, the next dance is August 2nd and my best friend is having a get together before the dance. His wife will be expecting to see me in a kilt. Hmmm......which one to wear. I think this time it will be the Black Watch Tank and a white shirt.
