Newbie Hello
Hello all!
Looks like a great place here. I just stumbled across it in my search for information on kilts. I'm looking to purchase my first kilt in the next month or so, and wondering if I might get some advice.
I'm a Clark, and thought it would just be easier to get a kilt in the Clark Ancient tartan, than try to track down which of the many clans our particular line of the family was a sept of. However, I'm having a bit of difficulty finding an affordable, entry-level kilt, that's also available in the Clark tartan. I've found lots of nice entry level kilts, even in the ~$100 range which surprised me, but when I look for the Clark tartan, I end up back in the ~$350+ range, which is just out of my price range these days.
If anyone can point me in the direction of a kilt maker who offers an affordable (i.e. <~$150) entry-level kilt that I can get in the Clark Tartan, I would greatly appreciate it.
Thanks for the assistance, and once again, great looking site here.
Casey

"A veteran, whether active duty, retired, national guard or reserve, is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to "The United States of America", for an amount of "up to and including my life." That is honor, and there are way too many people in this country who no longer understand it." anon

Hi Casey from "Karst Kountry" . . beautiful Central Kentucky
As for a Clark tartan, may I recommend USA Kilts? They have a Poly Viscose kilt that runs from $220 to $250, depending on your hip size??
My Grandmother is a Clark. It's one on my list. However, be careful spending less . . cuz, you'll get less (quality).

Welcome from Greenville, SC!!! Good to have another upstater on here. And I would suggest you check out USA Kilts and look at their Clark tartan. They look pretty good and are affordable. But good to have ya here, and we gotta get the other Upstate SC people on here together and have a kilt night when you get your kilt!

The Clark tartan is on my list as well.
I have always tempered my killing with respect for the game pursued. I see the animal not only as a target but as a living creature with more freedom than I will ever have. I take that life if I can, with regret as well as joy, and with the sure knowledge that nature's ways of fang and claw or exposure and starvation are a far crueler fate than I bestow. - Fred Bear

I have a Sportkilt. Had it for years and love it! The one thing I would say is to follow their instructions carefully for keeping the pleats sharp. Mine have fallen a bit by the wayside.
