UK question - Have you had this happen?

I have no idea how I didn't notice and thank God I wasn't going regimental....

I washed a number of my UKs over the weekend and some how didn't notice that one of the seams in the pleats had totally ripped and I now had a slitted skirt (for lack of a better phrase). I noticed it after riding on 2 different subway trains and stnding in line for my coffee this morning. It was the first time that this one had been washed and it totally ripped up the side. I have more UKs than I care to admit and I've never had this happen before. It's on a Tan Survival.

I'm going to call them today and see what, if anything, can be done about it or if it is a defect/design flaw on this one.

I had a hem seam come loose during its first wash on a UK. Believe it was a poly cotton original. Cost me $10 for the seamstress at the dry cleaner to sew it back up and we had a nice chat. She was Navajo but had been to Scotland.

Is it a new UK or one from back when they were contracting out the sewing?

And if you didn't notice it chances are the inspector who inspected it before shipping didn't either.

Hopefully, the new crew at UK will stand behind the defect.

I didn't even notice it to be honest. It's a new UK less than six months old so I'm just hoping it's a flaw in the sewing. I'm probably going to send it bck to them so they can see it so if it is a defect they can amend it in future models. It's odd because it's not just a tear in the middle it's ALL THE WAY - top to bottom!

Quick update - I called UK World Domination Headquarters in Seattle and they are sending me a shipping label via email and will take a look at the kilt and repair it.

I showed what happened to one of the women at the office and she agreed with me that it looked like the stitching/seam/whatever simply came apart in the back and she was more curious as to how I never noticed or felt it rather than how it actually happened.
