Black wool epaulettes
I'm in the process of converting a tuxedo waistcoat into a Prince Charlie, and cannot find black wool epaulettes anywhere on the web. Does anyone have a source that mfg's/sells these?

Greg,
When I had my tailcoat turned into a formal jacket I had the tailor use some of the material she removed from the bottom of it and made simple flat epaulets.
Cheers

You could look into doing what Tartan Hiker did a little while ago, here is the link

Thanks for the replies.
Panache, great idea, but there isn't any extra material on the jacket. McMurdo, I like the thread. It may take more pictures and examples for it to sink in, though...

Highland X Press seems to have them, but I don't know if it is the kind you want.

Ted, thank you. Not as wide as the ones noted by McMurdo, but they might work.
The level of experiences and ability to find excellent resources on this website continues to astound me.

Hope something works out for you. I have lots of other links for buttons and all kinds of jacket and kilt conversion stuff stashed away in one of my threads if you're looking for anything else.

Look at the store bought PC's. Most of them have silky braids rather than flat epaulettes. Get some satin trim, double it, braid it, secure one end at the sleeve seam and the other end with a silver button about 3/4's the distance to the collar. You're good to go.
