ANZAC day Kilted?
Okay men,
Heres one for you, I am keen to attend in my Kilt, but for some reason feel a little apprehensive about doing so. Firstly I don't know how it will be recieved, and if it may upset some people...
And on the other hand, I would like to represent my family who have served the commonwealth services for flippin ages and be damned what others think...
(i.e.)
G Cunningham (Scots Reg - British Army - Indian Mutiny) (G G G Grandfather) (arrived NZ 1870)
J D Cunningham (NZ Army - Boer War) (G G Grandfather)
R G Cunningham (NZ Army - WW1) (G Grand father)
C M Cunningham (NZ Army - WW2)(Pacific Island including the Solomons)(grandfather)
J R Cunningham (NZ Police - 30 Years)(Father)
J R Cunningham (NZ Police & AOS) (NZ equiv of Swat)(Elder Brother)
P R Cunningham (Navy 10 years - East Timor, Bougainville)Peacekeeping(Marine Engineer)
As an ex service man and a member of the local RSA (Returned Services Association) I'm sure that some wouldn't have a problem with it, and others might...
For those that may not of heard of the services I have attached the following links.
And to what level of dress, formalish as in Argyll? (thats what I would probably go for.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ANZAC_Day
http://www.rsa.org.nz/remem/anzac_today.html
I think the only reason that I am a little reserved, is out of respect more than anything.
So any opinions would be appreciated.
Regards
Phil C

EXACTLY!!
Anyone who would take offense or get upset by you wearing a kilt doesn't know the first thing about,... oh, take your pick:
a. the Commonwealth;
b. NZ history;
c. the Commonwealth;
d. your family history;
e. the Commonwealth;
f. 20th century military history; and
g. the Commonwealth.
Oh, did I mention the Commonwealth?
Kilts are a large part of our Commonwealth military history. Who on earth could have a problem with that on ANZAC day?
Sorry, maybe there are some political intricacies here that I've missed, being a Canuck and all. But, this is just my personal opinion. If you wear it, remember - pics!

I agree with Nervous Jock and Jock Scot, but with the caveat that I don't believe an Argyll would be out of place, especially if that's what you have to hand. Whatever you wear, waltz your Matilda with pride.
"O, why the deuce should I repine, and be an ill foreboder?
I'm twenty-three, and five feet nine, I'll go and be a sodger!
