A place called Ticonderoga
Last summer, at the end of June was a reenactment of the attack on Ticonderoga. Howe had been killed in a skirmish, so Abercrumbie had to take a best guess at what the plan was and implement it. The french built a log breastworks at a pinch point, used brush to slow down and funnel attackers into dead ends. Only the Black Watch managed to clear the breastworks, but took heavy casualties in the process.

Thanks for the pics. A five-great grandfather was at Ticonderoga later in Nov 1776 reinforcing the place. He was with the New Hampshire Militia. Nice to see the pics of the place.

The battle
Getting into position
First shots fired
Things begin to heat up
The Black Watch advancing
At this point the rain got heavy, about 2 inches of rain fell in 45 minutes
The Black Watch in the abatis
At this point it was too wet to try to get more pictures
The British camps and sutlers were pretty well flooded out, with standing water in many camps.
Heading back
The mud was deep
Drying out in the French camps
The rain drove many people off, the battle was repeated Sunday, with maybe 2/3'rds the people and beautiful weather, but I got no pictures that day.

That was a great event! Attacking those French entrenchments was awesome. They mowed us down in fine style!
The heavy rain late on Saturday hit the Highlanders particularly hard, as they were set up on low ground in the British camp. The poor laddies had about a foot of water in their tents.
Thanks for the pics...!

I have one in my mom's shed. Built like a rock, it is.
