    Kilts and Bow ties

On my recent Wedding Thread the subject of bow ties and kilts came up (beyond black tie worn with formal wear) .

So I would like to call on bow tie fans (I'm talking to you Nick and pdcorlis! ) to post their pictures of their bow tied splendor.

Let's hash out whether or not kilts and bow ties work!

    Cheers

    Jamie

    Here are my contributions

To me bow ties work best with kilts, or for that matter any outfit, with waist coats.

    Cheers

    Did someone say bow ties?

I'll need to snap a couple of others but here's a start...

Oh yes - I'm also braced for the flat cap flack that may follow...

MacMillan of Rathdown mentioned something about a higher cut waistcoat than most with a bow tie when worn with a kilt. I can understand how that would look good.

I just like bow ties with waistcoats. Except matalic or weird bow ties, and I've liked them since I was a little kid.

Think I would prefer the wider style rather than the skinny bow ties.

All I ever wear is bow ties, just can't get anyone to take my picture. Something about breaking their camera . . . . .

I think that flatcap looks awsome!

I wear bow ties EXCLUSIVELY when bifurcated. However, I have not dared do so while kilted (black tie excluded). I am always afraid of the clash of patterns and/or coming off looking too formal. I look forward to rethinking.

    Thank you.

I also prefer a solid color bow tie or one that is not to busy of a pattern. I don't think there is anything wrong with matching the bow tie to the jacket or waistcoat, nor having it in the same color range for daywear.

For some reason, I would rather have a non-silk tie that has a little rougher texture for the day wear. Something that is wool or twill weave maybe. Don't really know what other materials might be used in a good bow tie.
