New guy from Australia
Hi although born in Scotland I have spent most of my life in Australia I live in Tasmania the southern most state. The climate is very like Scotland only not as much snow. Last year my father who is in his eighty's sent me his kilt which he got in his early 20's. It is a bit worse for wear the sporran has holes and he had a 20 inch waste back then so needless to say it doesn't fit me. However it has encouraged me to buy my own first kilt, my daughter will be getting married next year and I intend to wear a Kilt when I walk her down the aisle.

I tried to ask my inner curmudgeon before posting, but he sprayed me with the garden hose…

Welcome to the forum from Savannah, GA USA
As I'm sure you know, having received your father's gift, a kilt is far more than just a garment. There's no other article of clothing that has the kilt's the ability to become an heirloom. That first kilt of your own is going to be a joy for you to wear on the day of your daughter's wedding, and all the more because you can be sure, one day, that very kilt will carry forward to your daughter's own.
If you can, do post a picture of your father's kilt. I'm sure everyone on the forum would love to see it.
Slainte!
