WhiskyDC Single Malt Whisky Tasting
Who among the Rabble is interested in kilting up for the WhiskyDC Single Malt Whisky Tasting in Alexandria, Sunday, May 17th at 4 PM?
Here's the program;
Special Whisky Tasting Featuring Mystery Malts
We will review the characteristics of the regional varieties of Scottish single malt whiskies. Then we'll do a blind sampling of at least six whiskies to guess the region and distillery!
Cost: $15 per guest participating in tasting
PM me for the official invitation.
Sláinte!

Mael,
As much as I'd like to be there, instead I'll be in Charlottesville attending my daughter's college graduation. Perhaps the next time around.

You need not be kilted to attend!

Just got home from the Whisky DC tasting this evening. This time it was a blind tasting. We were shown the 6 whiskies before hand, then had to guess which was which for the tasting.
I did poorly, only correctly guessing the Ardbeg 10 (Islay). The other selections were Bladnoch 11--1986 (Lowland), The Balvenie Doublewood 12 (Highland, Speyside), Macallan Fine Oak 10 (Highland, Speyside), Springbank 10 (Campbelltown, Argyll), and Dalwhinnie 15 (Highland, Speyside).
I had previously had 2, the Dalwhinnie 15 (from the previous Whisky DC event), and The Balvenie Doublewood 12 (my brother had a bottle of this one, and I have a bottle of The Balvenie Single Barrel 15, the better of the 2, though they are both excellent)
They were all quite good, but if I had to pick a favorite, it would be a toss-up between the Ardbeg 10 and the Springbank 10. Since I already have a fair selection of Islays, the Springbank goes on my purchase list.
I was the only X-marker in attendance and did not get any photos (camera won't fit in the sporran). Maybe next time.

Sounds like quite the line-up. I'm hoping I can make the next one.

Hey John, sorry that I couldn't make it. I'm glad you had a good tasting. I wish they'd change the day/time or make it closer to DC!

I wasn't able to attend for reasons cited above, but I'm looking forward to the next opportunity.
A blind tasting? I've been offered a flask now and then and had to quess what was in it. Sometimes I do well, other times I'm all over the map. Sounds like it would be fun.
