    Post Ye Olde Cooke Booke :)

    i thought a few folk who like cooking and are into there period foods might enjoy ,this i saw a new snippet about it tonight online

    I'll have to look at all of the book when I have time.

    The snippet given was quite strange, though. My mum always used to soak rice overnight and then wash it next morning - when I had to take some rice into school for cookery I got into trouble because the teacher wanted it as it came out of the packet and I brought it in water in a jar.

    I wonder if the technique had been handed down in the family.

    I shall have to ask my aunts if they do the same...

    Really interesting stuff, thanks for that. Had to laugh at the curator's comment, though, "it's very much suck it and see, but great for experimenting"

    I love to putter around in the kitchen... might have to try some of that experimenting.

    my mum used to soak it overnight but I'm not sure she bothers as much these days with so many boil in a bag foods on offer now and with the 6 of us gone from the nest she doesnt really have to worry about sorting out meals the way she used to
