Dallas - Fort Worth Kiltmakers
Hi all,
Would the DFW kiltmakers please make themselves known to us?
Our local kiltmaker has retired, and we're looking for other kiltmakers in the area.
Cheers, ColMac

The only ones that I know of are Scotland Forever in Plano and Highland Moon in Arlington. I'm not sure if they're kiltmakers or only middlemen, though. The ladies from Highland Moon used to post here, but I haven't seen them around lately. There's also Linda Neal of Loch, Stock and Barrel. However, I am not entirely certain if she is presently located in Denton or Kansas City. Going by the description on the second "About Us" page, I get the impression she has moved from Denton to Kansas City.
Also, I seem to recall there's an X Marks member from around here who obtained a copy of The Art of Kiltmaking, but I don't recall how his kilt-making endeavor went.

Do yourself a favor and check out Kathy Lare's website www.kathyskilts.com she's next door in Albuquerque and trained at the Keith Kilt School in Scotland. Pay attention to her prices. You're dealing direct so there are noticable savings. But she's top of the line for sure so regardless of the price the value is there. Pics of her work in my profile albums.

Scotland Forever are just middlemen, to my knowledge. Or women. Very nice, though. I think they deal more with rentals, but they might be able to do some basic alterations.

Your idea of "next door" must be quite different from mine. Texas and New Mexico are some HUGGGE states my good man.
Mapquest reports FW to Abq as 625 miles.
I think the Col. is looking for a local kiltmaker, and I'm afraid Ms. Kathy is far from local for him.

It's less than a days drive to Albaq.. Or about an hour each way on Southwest.. At about $120.. Each way

When talking with the owner of Scotland Forever, she said they send out for all custom kilt construction. Did not say where they order the kilts from.

I ordered a kilt through Scotland Forever a few years back. It was made by Locharron of Scotland.
