Business with Tartanista, anyone??
Has anyone done business with Tartanista? How good are their products, and are they reputable to deal with?
I'm in the market for an Argyle jacket and noticed that they have a great price of $130.00. However, I wanted a wool jacket, and they do not state what it's made out of. I assume, for the price, it's not wool!??
Suggestions? Comments?
Thanks!

I've bought a few things from Tartanista, budget kilts and sporrans etc for casual wear.
They do offer good value for money, and I have found them very efficient with items accurately described and fast delivery, but do not expect top quality, you only get what you pay for.

I too, like Alex, have bought numerous low cost items from tartanista, the most expensive being a $50 8yPV off the rack kilt. The quality of his stuff is lower end, certainly not collectible or something I would anticipate handing down to my children, but as Alex said good for casual wear.
I would expect his Argyll to be made of wool, but not necessarily the greatest quality or weight of material, and likely manufactured in Pakistan using the fusing technique for many parts rather than traditional tailoring techniques, although I could be wrong. Usually the guys selling the good stuff state Made IN Scotland in their descriptions.
Most of his sporrans are knockoffs of other folks original designs, and not great ones at that, but functional for the most part. The guy does a decent business and is usually pretty good at shipping quickly, and does answer questions if you give him a couple days to do so before the auction ends. His store is rather sizable if you feel like grazing sometimes (I do over lunch at my desk sometimes).
Good luck.

I have bought from him, too. Extreme fast and very low cost shipping. No problems, at all.
Of course the products are not to quality, but more than adequate for just knocking about. A lot of value for money, I should say.

The best way to find out about the material is to ask questions. Apparently wool is much cheaper in Pakistan than Scotland, so it is possible.

I have bought from them as well and agree with what has been said before.

I can add myself to the list of happy customer of him. You get what you pay for, but it's not rubbish. I have bought belt and some sporrans from him, and everything is pretty nice. The first sporran I bought was a semi dress one I paid about £15 for. After two years it still is in perfect condition.
I once asked about a jacket, and think it was made in Pakistan og China. I would'nt buy a jacket there, but rather search around for some good deals from private sellers. I got my argyle for £35 (Scottish made). So if you have the time; wait for the right jacket to come on a listing.

I bought a sporran from him. It is a cheap knock-off of someone else's original design, very well made, although the harp badge faces in the opposite direction to the real thing. Cost $30 instead of $130. Of course, not everyone could stomache the ethics of that, not to mention the legal issues. I've had no problem with quality of goods or service, though.

i inquired about a sporran and he responded very quickly, that it was made in either Pakistan or India, I can't remember. I didn't purchase.

I was actually about to post the same question, as I recently came across tartanista on a famous auction site. I saw they had very inexpensive PC jacket/vest combo's. Has anyone here ever bought a jacket from him? I outgrew my last and do not wear formal wear enough to require the best quality. I do not however want to end up with something that I can't wear after a year or so due to it falling apart.
