Introducing The Laird ...
No, not me - the jacket.
That's the newly minted Laird jacket and waistcoat by Skye Highland Outfitters.
There is a long story behind this custom jacket, thus far one of a kind but soon to be offered to other interested customers. Basically, I wanted something a bit different from the standard PC. Josh and I started trading pictures, and ... this was the eventual result. The black doeskin is lovely, as is the workmanship.
We decided to call it "The Laird" not just because that is a fine and appropriate Scottish name but also because that is my son's middle name, and the name of the little Saskatchewan town where my father was born and is buried.
A few details:
I like it, my family likes it, and I got a huge number of (exclusively) positive comments when I wore it out for the first time, yesterday, to a formal reception and then to the opera.
So I'm pleased.

I really like your new jacket! Just enough bling without being overpowering and a unique cut while staying inside the boundaries of convention. Bravo
Is the waistcoat cut a bit higher than the usual 3 button? Your tie tucks in nicely but it looks like you could also wear it with a bow tie.

I like it better that the traditional Prince Charlie. I'm afraid I'm not a fan of all the buttons.

Nice job Garrett! I really like the subtle elegance of the cuff. Nice compromise between and Argyle cuff and a plain suit cuff.

I hope they supply plenty of spare buttons for the back. That "handle" will catch on everything and some of the more energetic party goers will not resist pulling it. I think a black (bow) tie might be better. A variation on a theme really.

Thanks for all the comments - Josh, are you listening?
I will indeed wear a bow tie with this jacket, most of the time - I just threw that one on as my daughter had just come by to take the pictures, and I still find neckties easier to tie!
