my first wool kilt arrived!
Five weeks to the DAY that I ordered my first "tank" from Skye Highland Outfitters it arrived in the mail!
I ordered one of their "Standard" machine sewn 16 oz in Black Stewart.
Two reasons for choosing Black Stewart:
1. My brother has this tartan kilt already, and he's my main man for attending events kilted with. (spouse doesn't wish to go with me when
I'm kilted, that's another story)
2. Frankly, the Black Stewart is just more colorful than my other choice,
the Duke of Fife (see my avatar swatch).
It arrived in a US Postal medium shipping box, folded in half, NO basting stitches, which surprised me, but turned out not to be a problem at all.
First impression: "looks like my SWK acylic standard!" On closer inspection: wider color stripes, certainly heavier, and the FIT is as many have said here, "like a glove". The front under-apron appears to be a wee bit too long, but maybe I'm doing something wrong w lining it up?????
Pleasantly surprised to NOT notice any problem at all wearing this weight kilt.
An unexpected bonus: free matching flashes! (thanks Josh).
I'm happy with this purchase. It will likely be awhile before I purchase another (not because I don't want more sooner)...... so, time to work on accessories!
Now, let's see if I can post pics, these are with no ironing/touch-ups at all:
