The kilted WalMart "smiley" at least acknowledges the "Fighting Scots" of Edinboro University, although the painted tartan isn't correct.
When I graduated from Edinboro State College (that was it's name back 45 years ago, the athletic teams were the "Red Raiders") there was NO WalMart anywhere near Edinboro. Now it's the "Fighting Scots" of Edinboro University. The sign outside of town said, as best I can recall it, "Named after the city in Scotland", but it Americanizes the spelling to Edinboro.
Last year was the 1st time in many years that I was back for Homecoming, I did so because I now had a Stewart Royal kilt (the Tartan of Edinboro University). The only Alumn kilted, I marched in the Homecoming Parade behind the banner "Decade of the 1960's". My photo appeared on the front page of the next issue of the campus newspaper. Sorry I'm unable to be there this year for Homecoming due to a conflict on the date.
Tony, thanks for posting the photo. I had not seen the WalMart smiley since I'm on the other side of PA when not in FL or TN. Interesting to see WalMart recognizing that "Figting Scots" spend $$$ there.
