    Norsekilt #2

My friends, I was in Scotland in march this year. When we visited the Bladnoch Distilley I discovered they sold pices of tartan fabric.
Since I was staying at the Ferintosh in Dumfries I bought the Nithsdale Ancient tartan.

    Taken from Wikipedia:
"Between 1975 and 1996 Nithsdale was one of four local government districts in the Dumfries and Galloway Region. The district was formed by the Local Government (Scotland) Act 1973 from parts of the counties of Dumfriesshire and Kirkcudbrightshire, namely:
The burghs of Dumfries and Sanquhar
The Districts of Thornhill and Upper Nithsdale
Most of the District of Dumfries
The Eastern District of the County of Kirkcudbright"

The 16 oz fabric was 5 mtrs long and enough to make a casual kilt. So here is some pictures:

I decided to make a inside strap and bucle so didn't have to make a "button" hole in the pleat. It's in fact easier to strap on a kilt made this way.

I also made a inside pocket that I can have the cell phone or money in.

And here I am wearing it.

Nice work! Is that really just your second turn at making a kilt?

That's a very nice job, well done. I complement you on the the very good idea of a pocket in the lining of the kilt. I am surprised that it is not suggested more often- I know I have used the waistband as pocket of sorts on occasion.

Nice kilt. and you have only made 2!!!! do you have a background as a tailor.

I do that all the time,. it works wonders for a quick place to slide my cell phone.
