Kilted in Palm Springs, Thanksgiving 2010
A few kilties and assorted hangars-on gathered for dinner at McGowan's in Palm Springs on Friday of the 2010 Thanksgiving weekend. Steve/SkyPilot was supposed to join us but unfortunately got the time wrong. Here are Bruce/FlagFolder, John (sorry I didn't get his handle) and Bob/BigDad1 in two Leathernecks flanking a McQueen tartan.

Also on hand from the SCHooligans were Yolandie (sp?) and her friend Stan who is not yet kilted but investigating the possibilities. We all had a great time talking, eating and drinking the evening away!
Proudly Duncan [maternal], MacDonald and MacDaniel [paternal].

Now that would be interesting. I'd like to see a closeup of the sgian if that is indeed what it is.

Don't know if that's what it is in the pic yet, but here's a pic of what I'm talking about.
Its actually not a knife, but a reproduction that's a letter opener. But it works great as a sgian dubh with the Leatherneck tartan.
Its the bottom one in this pic.

That's genius Riverkilt! I know you've posted about collecting sgians and maybe this mini k-bar will inspire those two gents in the OP to do the same...

Thanks, but any "genius" goes to Rob Theige, Kathy Lare's husband, who I purchased the KBar replica "sgian dubh" from. He makes a leather sheath for it with an embossed EGA.
It is for sure a natural with a Leatherneck tartan kilt.

Riverkilt: The mini-K-Bar is very cool. And a lot easier to carry than my original K-Bar, which is still in my possession.
Bruce had an extra mini with him and kindly sold it to me. I planned to wear it with my Leatherneck tartan. I will have to fix up some kind of sheath. Unless you know where I might buy one?
The evening in question was a rip-roaring success. The pub loved us being kilted and the service and grub was exemplary. The night air was a bit frigid on my tender kilted legs though. You might ask Bruce about the barkeep flirting with him. She even gave him a Guinness that she said she poured by "accident."
