A be-lated Christmas present for mummie-n-law
This is a haversack made for my mummie-n-law I finished this yesterday so it's a bit late getting to her for Christmas but she saw the body of the bag on Christmas, the strap is what needed to be finished It measures 9" by 11" w/46" strap. The flap is lined w/20 oz. black wool to weight it down. Just enough room for your wallet, keys, c-phone & maybe a few more items

I'm waiting on 2 yds. of tartan from Scotland to make my next haversacks! Up until this point I've used only purdy plaids from the local fabric shop. Now it's time to use the real thing

Nice job.
And you will be amazed when you get your hands on "the real thing"...there is nothing like genuine kilting cloth.

If you don't mind me asking, did you use a pattern of sorts?

No pattern. Just a simple pocket with a flap & shoulder strap. It's not period correct, just something to carry a few more things w/you

Greenfordranger, I like the look of that bag, and I think my wife would appreciate one of them. I will have to order one from you in an appropriate tartan when I have the cash for it.
Regards,
Mike

Thanks everyone! Mike I don't sell them or have the $ to stock real tartan but do have a small collection of purdy plaids in my stock pile & since you asked, if you would like I'll make your wife one for FREE & ship it too. I'll send you a pm w/pics of plaids to pick from & we'll go from there. Maybe one day they'll be for sale but not at this point. I wish I could make this offer to everyone but since Mike was the first to ask, he's the only winner of the FREE haversack

Very nice! I'm sure your MIL will love it.
