Queensland, Australia in the firing line again
Northern Queensland Australia is expectiong Cat 5 Tropical Cyclone Yasi to cross the coast between Cairns and Townsville about 10.00pm tonight AEST.
They are predicting winds of 289+kph and rainfall of 700+mm. This area was hit 2 or3 years ago by a Cat 4 cyclone which reeked havoc in the area. The weather bureau has just lost it's main weather station for the area that was on an island east off the Australian mainland and cannot accurately provide up to date data regarding the path and severity of the cyclone
As many of you will know, central and southern Queensland were hit by floods several weeks ago.

We have been thinking of you all in these dire times that your country is going through and are now holding our breath for your next trial. Good luck to you all.

That place just cannot catch a break lately. Here's hoping that you and yours are ok.

Thanks TB, I am well safe being down south (but we do have some bushfires in the State at the moment) My sister in law and children are in Townsville, which in the path of the cyclone. Unfortunately my brother in law is in outback Queensland and cannot get home to be with them. We have all our fingers crossed

It isn't very nice. Luckily my family too are down south so they have avoided everything but a little bit of rain. My mother's biggest complaint lately is that it is too hot. haha
Downunder, I hope that they will be ok.

My brother in Brisbane just sent me this link to view the storm. http://www.goes.noaa.gov/sohemi/sohe...hirgmscol.html
It's just been upgraded to a Cat 5.

I'm with Frank.
I was just complaining about all the snow we're getting here in New England, but now I realize it's nothing to complain about.
Good thoughts and prayers are with you.
