Wedding Preparations
In almost exactly two months time I will be in attendance at a wedding for one of my brothers. Having heard of my kilt making obsession he asked if I would fit him out. I agreed of course. Another brother whose current kilt is a bit too small, not exactly the right tartan (Clan Donald) and likely older than two or three of us put together has been through quite a lot and is showing its age. He also asked for a replacement since he will be standing in the wedding party. How could I refuse. Some may also remember that I had a custom run of MacDonald of Clanranald done with member Hothir Ethilnor last year. Those lengths have been waiting anxiously for their turn under the needle. All my other obligations are finally met and I'm ready to get going on this project.
Shown in the picture here are;
Two lengths of Lochcarron Strome seen in the two bottom corners, one 4 yards double width, the other 5 yards double width.
Two 2 yard lengths of the D.C. Dalgleish K7 light weight in my custom 'Wilsons' colours. It was a single four yard length, but I've torn it in half. Those are in the upper corners.
Centred is the single width, 8 yard length of D.C. Dalgleish K1.
Clanranald all.
Let's call this one ...
BEFORE

Now if you'll excuse me please, I have some sewing to do.

I know you'll be doing a fine job. Keep us posted on progressive developments. I love seeing kilts come together.

If there's any yardage left over, will you be turning it into half-plaids?

When given a choice, most people will choose.

There won't be enough left over for that on this project, but I do have some plans and hope to present a 'surprise' or maybe two. Not letting that cat out of the bag yet though.

Looks like you will be busy seeing McDonald tartan in your sleep. What is the difference between your "Wilson" and McDonald tartans? The colors and sett look the same only the sett is smaller for the "Wilson" on my old laptop.

The sett is actually larger, the blue is slightly paler and the green is more of a loden than a bottle.
