    Smile Nice to be recognized

So half an hour ago I was leaving Stanford Hospital to make a run to See's Candies at Stanford Shopping Center before returning with loot to the friend I'm visiting, who'll be there one more night and checking out tomorrow. I'd just exited the building in front of the cafeteria when a guy sitting on a bench called out, "Nice Marine kilt!"

Happens that I'm wearing my Stillwater Heavyweight in Leatherneck tartan in honor of Memorial Day.

Whoo hoo! I've had my "Clergy" picked up three times, and my "Maple Leaf" once. Feels good, doesn't it! Congratulations!

That's pretty cool. Honestly, the Leatherneck is one of the few tartans I myself would recognize...that and Navy Edzell, of course. Definitely a nice compliment on Memorial Day Weekend.

I came close to being recognized, but not quite. Showed up to play the pipes at a wreath laying ceremony Monday. The M.C. took a look at me and said "Black Watch?" Close, MacKay. They do look similar.

The City of Exeter pipe band wears Robertson tartan, and they fairly puffed up with pleasure when I was able to tell them I knew who they were by recognising their tartan.

A group of them goes to Sidmouth folk Festival at the beginning of August most years.
