Kilt hose project
Having our mutual addiction is really tough when you are on a tight budget, So I have taken to making the best of what I have and what I can get. Riverkilt was kind enough to send me 4 pair of white hose that he no longer wears so that I could dye them to go with my kilts. With a small investment in some RIT liquid dye, here are the results of my project:
Claret, Charcoal, Blue and Brown

I love the colors! Let us know if they're color fast, or if they bleed! I have a white pair I don't wear, and may have to try something similar.

Did you use a full packet of dye for each?

Those really look good. What a great way to save some bucks on nice-looking colored hose. Do you anticipate any problems with the color running, like when you wash them?
When you can, post some pictures "in vivo", so to speak. I would love to see them.
I changed my signature. The old one was too ridiculous.

Glad they turned out well, Mikilt.
I tried to ask my inner curmudgeon before posting, but he sprayed me with the garden hose…

They look great! When using the Rit, did the hot water shrink them?

The colors look great. Hope they wear well and prove a complete success!

Madmacs,
I used the liquid dye. I used close to 1/2 bottle on the claret, almost as much on the brown. For the blue and charcoal, I used light blue dye and black dye, respectively. I used very little on each and dipped them for only a few minutes to get the desired shade.

Henry,
If there has been any shrinkage it must be very uniform. They all look fine.
