    Wall Street Journal Article

In the WSJ Off Duty section this weekend, 25/26 August, was a long feature article "The Scottish Are Coming". Apparently for the first time in my life I'm ahead of the curve on high fashion. All things Scottish are finding there way into a number of designer lines this year and Saks Fifth Ave. have devoted a portion of a floor to the new trends. Some includes kilts, other new Harris tweeds from new mills in Scotland which have revived the trade and others just look silly to me; but they are all pricy. The article is on line at WSJ but you have to log in to see it. But here are two illustrations from the article.

An interesting fashion trend, but weird (as fashion often is).
It seems that we at X Marks will be way ahead of the fashion trend, leaving the ridiculous applications of tartan to the fashionisti while we make the most of more readily available woven materials.

Some new, some not so new... Ralph Lauren certainly has a long history with tartans (ideal if you're a stewart), as does Tommy Hilfiger...

I'm not sure I see kilts hitting the mainstream though... Waaaaaaay too much predudice...

What's up with the guy on the left? Is he wearing (American)football shoulder pads? He's also wearing checked gloves. Also, where did the guy on the right A: get that Flock of Seagulls hair? and B: Park his flying carpet? (Those pants are Ali Baba chic!)

The comments on the article are none too kind. "Crap" seems to be the common denominator.
