    Belt or hose first?

I'm sure the bottom line is going to be personal preferance but I'm going to ask any way. I'm still putting my kit together got a couple of good looking sporrans and a couple kilts. But I'm wondering which to buy first more hose( I have a set of off white) yes I know how we all hate that color, or a kilt belt and buckles. As always any help is very much appreciated.

I'd go for decent hose before a belt. You can get by wearing a kilt without a belt, but the hose are a must.

    Or...

You could buy the belt and just dye your hose to an acceptable colour.

A kilt belt can vary from essential to superfluous. Suck in your stomach and if your kilt doesn't fall off then you don't need a belt. .

Since you do have hose, I would be looking at a belt & buckle.
I am not a white hater, but I dont wear them much as my others. You can "stain" them with very strong tea.

Hose first as the can add some color to your outfit. Belts are optional so can ce added later.

I agree with Tobus. I'd go with the hose first. A well-made kilt doesn't really require a belt anyhow, as the straps and buckles actually hold the weight of the kilt on your hips. Various colours and styles of hose are much more interesting to me than a belt and buckle. Naturally, the decision is yours!

    Cheers,

I'll throw in my advice for hose first. I frequently wear my kilt sans belt, but hardly ever sans hose. Get a pair in a nice color that will tone well with your kilt. That will give you another option besides the ecru hose that you already have -- plus you can wear your kilt two days in a row and have fresh socks both days!

I never wear a belt (although they are smart on some people) but would not be seen in a kilt without hose.

I am with the majority here. A belt should only be worn if necessary. A few good pair of different color hose and flashes/garter ties can go a long way toward accessorizing your kilt.
