Brown or Black for a Day Sporran

I found a sporran I really like at an Irish-theme store (Irish Traditions) in Annapolis, Maryland. It comes in both black and brown - hence, my quandry. I like them both but will only purchase one.

Brown goes better with any kind of daywear, from the most casual to THCD.

I have never been a fan of brown leather. All my belts, shoes, and sporrans are black.

I am squarely on the fence; I have both brown and black day sporrans. Really depends on the belt and shoes, doesn't it? In piping competitions, some days I will go toward the quasi-military look and wear the black rig, in others, the 'gentleman squire' look is completed with the brown. Both are appropriate and neither attract the kilt kops or any other comment. If you've got a brown and black sporran, you can probably go either way--what ever looks good to your eye. I know, I've been no help.

Actually, it's ap to you. But! If we say about brown, light brown - is more strict for overall dress code. If it is dark brown sporran, then it looks more profitable than simple black. And suits to various colors... If I chose, I would prefer dark brown to black.

I am also a two-day sporran person. I have both black and brown and ultimately, I just match my leather. As long as my shoes match my sporran, I am good to go.

TEHO--I'm a big fan of brown. Might come from motorcycling, everyone wears black. I wear brown. I'm a rebel that way.

TEHO? I think being colorblind might be influencing my choice.

None of us is following the mainstream, anyway; we wear a kilt!

Brown always looks more "right" to me, because when I started kiltwearing most of the Day sporrans I saw being worn were brown. The nearly universal wearing of brown sporrans with black shoes struck me early on, as one of the many things that makes Highland Dress stand apart from "Saxon" dress.

Back in the day, you could have any colour you wanted, as long as you wanted brown. Specifically Day sporrans were usually pigskin or deerskin.
