Does Moody wear the kilt long because he has a wooden leg?

    Moody's long kilt.
it looks as though just the front apron is extended to cover his knees, at least in that pic anyway

and as i have never read the books i can only guess at this (correct me if wrong) but Moody always seemed to me, to be one BAFM, and the movies seemed to down play how powerful he was,or just not show it. again if wrong please correct me.

You're not wrong, i think they should have showed how much more awesome he really was. Especially how paranoid he was too with his "Constant Vigilance!!". But he was pretty :buttkick: lol

I would not be surprised that the production company was purposely avoiding a recognizable tartan. Firstly if the charactor did not have a set clan connexion they would not want charges of misappropriation (including from people like us). Secondly, many things about HP are ment to be different from the muggles, either suggesting ancient roots or because they are wizards after all. That would include the cut as well as the weave. Thank you Matt for bringing the Welsh setts to my attention, I am already familiar with scandinavian fabrics with different setts to the warp and weft. I appreciate the inclusion of the kilt all the same. To my mind slipping one in without fanfare fosters the idea that kilts are normal male attire.

I am currently reading Half Blood Prince (#6 in the series) and so far I can only recall one reference to a kilt in one of the earlier books. Someone was seen wearing a kilt while the characters were camping.

That would make sense. My wife wears her skirts long to hide her false leg, although of course it isn't wooden.
