    Re: Message to Stillwater kilts

As has been said, Jerry has always been as accommodating as possible...nary ever a cross word said here about Stillwater.

But they pretty much have a set product line and it looks like they have pretty good grasp of where they are in the market product and price point-wise. Stillwater has rolled out some innovative products in the past and may do so in the future. One thing Jerry seems to be, though, is a pretty damn smart businessman and I'm sure that any decision that he would make on your recommendations would be based on his not inconsiderable experience in the kilt business.

As Seanachie said, there are several kiltmakers associated with this forum who could accommodate you and (with all due respect to Stillwater) you'd probably get your wish quicker by going through one of them than waiting for Jerry to assess the practicality of going into production of a whole line of box pleated kilts that might have a limited appeal.

There has always been on and off discussion about why Stillwater sells only a 24" length and it always basically comes down to the fact that that's the best average size to make 'em and you can always make your own adjustments after you have the kilt in your own hot, little hands. Always seemed a practical approach to me...I'd suggest that the box pleat thing is sorta the same kinda thing.

    Re: Message to Stillwater kilts

I think part of the OP has to do with price as well, which puts my double box pleat from Lady Chrystel on my whish list, instead of my to buy list.

    This.

Nothing wrong with making a suggestion for Jerry to think about, but it's HIS business.

If you really, really want a box pleat kilt, there are other ways to get one, including making your own. Just so you know, all the reasons you quoted as to why they'd be good for Jerry to sell, apply to you making your own. They use less material. They require less sewing. Etc.
