A view of the Teviotdale kilt, taken in the shelter of the east nave. The tie commemorates the Battle of Hornshole, 1514, a minor skirmish in which Reivers from Teviotdale saw off a mob of English Reivers from Hexham, who had travelled into Teviotdale to loot and plunder in the aftermath of Flodden.

The remains of the grand church, looking east. The last great battle fought here was in 1548 when the French and Scots jointly held the Abbey against attack from the English.

A moody shot at the east end of the church. From 1671 only the west nave remained in use as a small local parish church and this was abandoned in 1875
After the abbey was abandoned the remains passed to ownership of the Marquis of Lothian and what we see today is in the care of Historic Scotland.
