Hello from Waterdown, Ontario
Just thought I'd drop in here for a quick hello.
I want a kilt in the worst way but at the moment I'm committed to losing my "candidate for a heart attack" waistline.
A pondering though : Anyone here ever had a larger sized kilt 're-sized' to a smaller waist?
Is it possible and/or worth it?
Andrew

Welcome from London, England.
As regards re-sizing a kilt - I assume we're talking about a traditional 8-yard kilt in wool?
Some kiltmakers such as Laura at McCalman Kilts or Burnett's and Struth offer this service.
Best regards

From Whitby, Ontario
Hope to see you at an upcoming kilt night, I do believe that it is possible to resize, you might want to talk to someone at your local tartan shoppe regarding this first, or ifyou are going to order your kilt online just bring up your concerns to the vendor of your choice, I am sure that USAKilts, Freedom kilts, or Stillwater Kilts who both advertise on this site would be able to help.

Welcome from south of your border in Georgia (near Atlanta, but don't hold that against me).
First of all, congratulations on the pre-heart-attack waistline removal project. Take it from me, it's a lot less trouble and feels better than the post-heart-attack regimen.
Matt Newsome's sight offers resizing services. Check out http://kilts.albanach.org/alterations.html.
Another avenue you might not have considered is purchasing a less expensive kilt for the time being, say a heavy wool from StillWater Kilts. If you buy it about a size smaller than perfect for now, you'll be able to wear it through several inches of weight loss and then replace it with a nice, 8 yard custom kilt when you reach your goal weight.
Hang in there, and welcome aboard. You know not what you do entering into this den of iniquity. Ha.
